The Best Dark Chocolate Bourbon Brownies

Fudgy brownies meet a healthy dose of bourbon, chunks of chocolate, and a sprinkling of sea salt. Each bite of these brownies scream "pure perfection." Try them for yourself. One bowl. 10 minutes. & you're on your way to the best brownies you've ever tasted.

Brownies are a comfort dessert for me. If I am craving something sweet but not quite sure what to make - most likely, I'll be throwing together these brownies. Bourbon or not, these brownies are phenomenal. They're fudgy, perfectly sweet, and have the legendary crackly top.

I just love the flavor the bourbon brings when paired with chocolate and baked to perfection. It was meant to be married to chocolate. The end.

Ingredients for Fudgy Bourbon Chocolate Brownies

- dark chocolate, chopped

- unsalted butter

- granulated sugar

- eggs, room temperature

- bourbon whiskey

- vanilla extract

- all purpose flour

- cocoa powder

- dark chocolate chips or chopped dark chocoalte

- flaky sea salt, for topping

How to Make Chewy Chocolate Bourbon Brownies

1. Preheat oven to 350°F. Line an 8×8 baking dish with parchment paper and set aside.

2. In a large microwave-safe bowl, combine butter and bittersweet chocolate. Heat in microwave in 30 second intervals until fully melted and smooth.

3. Stir in sugar to cool the mixture down, then add in eggs one at a time, whisking to combine. Add bourbon and vanilla. Fold in flour, cocoa, and salt, mixing until the batter is glossy and smooth. Mix in chocolate chips.

4. Pour into the prepared baking dish and bake for 30 minutes, or until the brownies are set and a toothpick comes out clean when inserted. Remove from oven and immediately sprinkle with flaky sea salt, if desired.

5. Allow to cool completely before removing from the pan and slicing with a very sharp knife, rinsing and wiping the knife after each cut. Enjoy!

Enjoy these with a glass of milk, cup of coffee, scoop of ice cream, or a dollop of whipped cream.

Can I Make These Without Bourbon?

Yes, of course. If you would like to make these without alcohol, simply omit the bourbon in the recipe. I just recommend adding a little bit more vanilla extract.

Can I Make Bourbon Brownies Gluten Free?

Definitely. I do this all the time, and they turn out great. Simply swap the all purpose flour for your favorite gluten free flour blend. I love to make my own blend from scratch without xanthan gum and add in about 1 teaspoon of xanthan gum when mixing the brownies together.

I do love the the King Arthur Gluten Free All Purpose Blend (without xanthan gum) and using 1 teaspoon xanthan gum in this recipe.

Dairy Free Option: These brownies can easily be made dairy free. Use your favorite non-dairy butter (and make sure your chocolate is dairy free, too.)
